Nothing is more interesting and fun than the rumors buzzing around every year when the clubs in Ibiza start organization for the upcoming summer season on the White Isle. We’ve just got the news that Defected after 7 years is going away from Pacha.
Defected leaving Pacha?
Yes, this seems to be one of the big headlines for Ibiza 2013! Simon Dunmore, founder and A&R director of the house record label Defected, announced in a press release that after 7 years Defected will not continue their residency at Pacha.
Dunmore declared in a statement on the Defected website on December 13th that the club is still an “incredible discotheque” where he enjoyed working. For him, the 2012 season was the most successful one on the island, with the likes of Solomun and Dennis Ferrer “striking the right chord on the island” musically. He explains that their achievements last summer are giving Defected “a great platform to look at the new opportunities available.”
Next summer will mark their tenth season in Ibiza, and Simon Dunmore and his team are going to explore new territories. For the moment the label boss does not indicate what their plans for the 2013 Ibiza season are. Fans like Sandra Swaybe-Barrett from London are looking forward to where Defected will go, commenting on what might have motivated the breakup: “Pacha’s ethos was changing this summer with movers and shakers leaving. It was to be expected with the internal politics nothing stays the same. Evolution is imminent.”
