What a season for the German promoter! The island institution that is Cocoon recently celebrated its 100th label – release and proved this summer that they are still a force to be reckoned with.
At a time where the underground is flourishing in Ibiza and more and more promoters are fighting over a limited number of DJs and clubbers also long time institutions of the party scene had to up their game. Cocoon this summer opted for an interesting way: Instead of going really big in production, deco, number of DJs etc they chose elegant understatement. For the first time in years their Monday parties did not have a motto or slogan and there were no faces of the DJs on their billboards. There was just an iconic orange Cocoon over the green background of a leafy jungle. Instead of providing more DJs than competitors they deliberately reduced the concept to two a night, with the occasional live act in between. This gave DJs time and place for their sets unheard of at normal Ibiza club nights.
Somewhat of a classic is the line-up for the final party on September 30th. The terrace will be in the experienced hands of Ricardo Villalobos and his Romanian friend Raresh. Ricardo’s return is his sixth appearance at Cocoon this season, among them a memorable back2back night with his friend Luciano and dates where he played alone all night long. Villalobos’ infamous sets are, to quote Forrest Gump, ‘like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get.’ Especially so with a professional partner in crime like Raresh. So prepare yourself to go all the way when the sun comes through the roof on Tuesday morning.
The main room will be closed by Sven Väth once more, as there is arguably no one on this island who feels more right on this iconic floor. It is there that Sven excels at creating those intense and memorable moments that will stay with you forever. Having played great techno all season long with Pig and Dan’s ‘Savage’ or wAFF ‘BeatMakerZ’ being among his favourites he will once more turn Amnesia upside down with awesome music, exuberant charisma and lots of funny DJ booth – antics.
Warming up the main floor will be Mathias Kaden, who had several memorable appearances at Amnesia this year and played a legendary afterhour set at La Sal Rossa near the beach. Furthermore Tobi Neumann has been added to the bill, a Cocoon staple for years with a huge Ibiza experience under his belt.
Expect some additional special guests and surprises as Cocoon parties always go way into Tuesday morning when mayhem is at its utter peak. And even when Amnesia finally closes its doors that night nobody has to go home as the label is notorious for the crazy and free afterhour starting around noon on Tuesday.
Line-Up: Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh, Mathias Kaden, Ilario Alicante, Tobi Neumann
