Stuttgart’s Electronic Music Festival (SEMF) has already made itself a name on the European festival agenda and after only few years it became one of the most innovative and fresh electronic music event concepts for the South of Germany. Located right next to the airport it is easy accessible also for international visitors who want to check in just for a quick weekend stop-over.
SEMF has become an absolute highlight thanks to the extremely positive response, especially from the last year’s edition. The event was voted one of the top 5 German festivals in the de:bug reader poll. No wonder that the Early Bird Tickets for this year’s edition have been sold out after just eight days.
For their 2012 edition on Saturday, 15th December, the SEMF organisers switched up a gear and together with new partner Cosmopop have again improved the indoor open-air concept. In the plans can be found an additional indoor floor, again infinite green spaces (hundreds of square metres of rolling lawn are used for the dance and chill out areas), and many new details, specials and effects that will create the perfect summer open-air daytime feeling.
The main focus is still the musical program and here the they have found an harmonious blend. Headliners and newcomers, international acts and local heroes, old friends and new faces – the SEMF 2012 line-up unites them all. At the head is enthroned DJ legend Sven Väth, who is back in Stuttgart for the first time after two years of absence. Chris Liebing and Adam Beyer can probably also be described major players in the European techno league.
Extrawelt and Anthony Rother will be playing live, as well as Format:B, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Rework. Jamie Jones is not only the “DJ of the Year 2011” but also the creative mind behind the “Hungry for the Power” summer 2011 track. He will be joined by other well-known artists such as Matthias Tanzmann, Monika Kruse, Karotte, Andre Galluzzi and Gregor Tresher.
The exhibition halls of the Stuttgarter Messe will be touched by sunlight on that night, regardless what the real weather forecast says. SEMF is a winter escape indoor festival and a highly pleasurable party experience with the sunny touch of Ibiza. Huge respect to the Schwaben behind this project for their diligence and their tenacious will to raise a festival of this magnitude which is putting new focus on the region and its electronic scene.
